This week, meet Meaghan Airey, an associate who is a member of the firm’s media relations practice. Meaghan supports the firm’s education, association and senior living PR clients. Learn more about Meaghan below.
What motivated you to seek a career in communications?
I took a developing class called 1853 Communications during my first year of college. The course aimed to establish a student-run public relations agency on campus. I loved the environment, the collaboration, and the idea of serving others. I changed my major to Communications within two weeks.
What is your favorite aspect of public relations?
I love being a storyteller. There is something powerful about rising out of the ‘everyday’ to receive a glimpse of who a client is through their unique story and then portraying it in an eccentric light.
When did you know AKCG was the team for you?
I knew AKCG was the team for me during my first week as an intern. Everyone at the agency was welcoming and dedicated to ensuring my experience was memorable. This team’s culture is like no other!
How do you stay updated with the latest marketing trends and industry news?
I read outlets like PR Daily, which give me a glimpse into industry news while presenting a variety of articles tailored to my desired area of expertise. I love reading their media relations section because it is always full of informative, innovative articles that push me to think outside the box.
And just for fun: What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?
The one and only concert I have ever been to is Pierce the Veil. Back when I was fourteen, I had a great time fighting my way out of mosh pits and trying to catch the lead singer’s guitar pick!
