Angela Akumiah is an associate at AKCG – Public Relations Counselors. As a member of the firm’s crisis communications and issues management practice, Angela supports education, healthcare and senior living PR clients in responding to and mitigating challenges. Angela offers a diverse perspective developed through a variety of professional and educational experiences.
Angela graduated from the University of Delaware, where she earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Sociology and Political Science with minors in Women’s and Africana Studies. After graduation, Angela spent time working for Governor Carney in the state of Delaware before bringing her critical thinking and community relations skills to AKCG.
Angela is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an international service organization devoted to serving all mankind, where she has served as her chapter’s Technology and Public Relations chair. She is also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and Alpha Kappa Delta, International Honor Society of Sociology. Aside from these organizations, Angela is a former McNair Scholar and completed two independent research projects with the program. Angela’s enthusiasm for communications work stems from an eagerness to foster healthy discussions between institutions and their communities. Her goal is help clients prioritize cultural sensitivity as they navigate their most challenging times.
