AKCG On Call
Selecting a crisis-communication partner is about more than selecting a phone number to keep in your contacts. You want a partner that invests in knowing your culture, your audiences and your voice. At the same time, this partner must be committed to being a good steward of your investment.
AKCG On Call, comprising the following elements, provides a well-rounded series of ongoing benefits at a modest, projectable cost.
A Reputation Insurance Policy
AKCG On Call is a proprietary, flat-rate and modestly priced crisis communications service. Think of it as an insurance policy for your organization’s reputation. An experienced team, primed, fluent in your voice, and at-the-ready. No off-the-shelf statements. No surprise bills.
How It Works
24/7 access to an informed, experienced crisis response team
Should you encounter a crisis event, AKCG will work directly with you to evaluate the risk to your reputation and determine a course of action. The strategy development and time devoted to “stabilizing” the incident — the most vital part of crisis response — is included; clients will incur no cost for strategy and message development no matter how many times we are put into action.
Crises, broadly defined
For AKCG On Call a crisis is defined as any incident that can impair an organization’s ability to operate or erode the goodwill of the people it serves. That said, a crisis does not need to be major in scope to warrant AKCG’s support. Situations involving rumors and misinformation; threats to colleagues and employees; and unsubstantiated social media rumors are included under this banner.
A Detailed Vulnerabilities Audit
As recent media coverage has demonstrated, there is simply no statute of limitations on public interest in crises; even half-century-old incidents have the potential to become tomorrow’s news. To best anticipate the past issues that may pose a reputational threat to your organization, AKCG will meet with leadership to conduct an assessment of the outstanding vulnerabilities. For those situations that pose ongoing risk, no matter the age, AKCG will prepare statements and messaging, ensuring we are positioned to communicate as quickly as possible.
Crisis-ready Spokespersons
AKCG’s expert media trainers will be available to counsel your organization’s spokespersons in advance of interviews on sensitive topics to ensure we are goal-oriented, message-focused and anticipating the reporter’s approach.
Measuring Sentiment and Voice
AKCG will monitor every channel at our disposal — from traditional media to your organization’s social media channels, to your internal and external publications — to ensure we are alerting you to items of interest and to stay prepared to write in your organization’s “voice” whenever necessary.
Scenario-based Crisis Communications Planning
While crises cannot always be prevented, they can be anticipated. Through effective planning and training, an organization can go a long way to minimize or avoid the potential damage a public perception of a crisis can cause. Organizations most successful in weathering crises are those whose communications and leadership teams recognize the realities and immediacy of today’s communications environment and supplement their operational plans with a scenario-based Crisis Communications Plan.
AKCG will work with you to build an actionable, effective Crisis Communications Plan incrementally and over time. We will work prioritize the crisis scenarios in order of potential threat, relevance and importance.
