AKCG Takes “Best in Show” Honors

by | Dec 12, 2016

On Dec. 6, Anne Klein Communications Group (AKCG) took home “Best in Show” honors at the 48th annual Pepperpot and Achievement Awards, sponsored by the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, for work with its client, Ralston Center. The event recognizes public relations campaigns and tactics submitted by chapter members across the Greater Philadelphia region.

The top-rated entry in more than 110, the AKCG’s best-in-show submission came in the Public Service category for the entry, “Ensuring Older, Underserved West Philadelphians Thrive Independently,” in partnership with client Ralston Center. The campaign launched a robust public service initiative, driven by primary research, to enable older adults to thrive in their communities. The initiative kicked off with a press conference and community event that engaged dozens of community-partner organizations, elected officials, other supporters and many of the seniors the initiative aims to help.

Other awards AKCG received included a Pepperpot (first-place award) for the press conference kicking off the Ralston Center initiative, as well as a Ladle (second-place) for the multicultural communication campaign, “Successful Cultural Integration of a Senior Living Community,” in partnership with CCRC Operator Wesley Enhanced Living.

The PRSA Pepperpot Awards are a staple in the Philadelphia region, recognizing the best-in-class PR campaigns, tactics and professionals. The “Pepperpots” were established in 1968, named for the famous “catch-all” Philadelphia soup to represent the effort and variety PR professionals put into their campaigns.

A total of 114 entries were judged independently by PRSA Oklahoma City, across more than 30 public relations categories — from campaigns such as public service, special events and social media to tactics such as feature stories, op-eds and annual reports.
