What motivated you to seek a career in public relations?

I was originally a psychology major during my freshman year of college. Eventually, after speaking to my advisor, I realized that I loved the communications aspect of psychology but did not love the science portion. I was referred to public relations as a major, and after my first Intro to Public Relations class, I immediately knew this was the career for me.

How have your experiences in your college career and internships contributed to the work you will do at AKCG?

I had great learning experiences in both college and my internship that applied to my knowledge of public relations. The courses I took at Rowan University helped provide the background I needed for my internship and, eventually, my position at AKCG. Specifically, I took a PR planning course that allowed me to create a communications plan for an on-campus organization. My internship allowed me to apply the skills I learned in college and even allowed me to experience a small part of the marketing side of communications.

What drew you to the AKCG team?

I was first drawn to AKCG from word of mouth from my professors during my time at Rowan University. A few years later, after learning about the firm’s team-oriented mentality during my first interview, I knew I wanted to join the AKCG team.

How do you stay updated with the latest marketing trends and industry news?

I love to stay updated on trends and industry news through different media outlets such as PRWeek. These outlets allow me to stay informed on different subjects within the industry. I particularly like to subscribe to newsletters for the easiest access to news.

And just for fun: What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

I have recently mastered my Sunday routine by using it as a day to reset for the week. I clean up my room, do laundry, get groceries for the week and organize my workload. It may sound very boring, but it helps clear my mind and allows me to focus on the week ahead.
