This week, meet Michaela Paris, an account executive working with our proactive media relations team. Michaela brings years of media-relations experience and strategy development to AKCG and delivers high-quality work and value for our thought leadership clients. Learn more about Michaela below.
How did you get your start in public relations?
I was a Communications Major in college. I wanted to work in film, but I decided to take a public relations course to see what it was like. As an avid writer, I ended up falling in love with PR in that time. In continuing my education by going for my master’s degree in Business and Marketing, my love for public relations grew. It was during this time that I started my first PR internship, and I knew then that this was the career path for me.
What is your PR specialty?
I love media relations! Meeting and forming relationships with the press has been my favorite part of my career. I also love writing and using my creativity to create unique pitches, blogs and other relevant content.
What part of media relations do you enjoy most?
As a very outgoing person, I love making connections and meeting new people. Before the pandemic, I always looked forward to attending media events and networking. It is also always nice when a client has a goal publication that they want to be included in and you have the perfect contact to help them secure the coverage.
What influenced your decision to join the AKCG team?
The work I have been doing at AKCG has been more fulfilling for me than any other work I have done before. Being able to help spread the word about hospitals, healthcare facilities and other businesses that have played such a major role throughout the pandemic is so rewarding. Being at AKCG makes me feel like I am doing my part to put a spotlight on the people who have worked tirelessly these past few years and beyond.
And just for fun: Do you have any hobbies?
I have a 4-year-old daughter who is my world! I love spending time with her and taking her to different places like zoos, museums and the beach. Even though I write in my career, I still love to write in my free time too!
