AKCG welcomes interns each semester to gain hands-on public relations experience. Our interns work directly to support the AKCG team and our clients in crisis communications and proactive media relations efforts.
We asked our summer 2022 interns to describe their experience as AKCG interns. Here’s what they had to share:
Duaa Ali, Rutgers University
This internship has taught me so much about what it is like to work in a public relations agency. I had a ton of hands-on experience and learned how to manage multiple clients and tasks at once.

Observing the firm-client relationships and learning best practices for these interpersonal communications were very important for me coming in as a Crisis Communications intern. Realizing the significant role of the AKCG team – who not only guide clients as they navigate sharing stories and impactful messaging to their stakeholders, but also serve as compassionate and honest counselors – set the stage for my aspirations as a developing professional. Learning about this intentional foundation of helping clients confront difficult truths and often serving as pragmatic advisors were the most rewarding lessons from my time at AKCG.

I am so grateful for my time at AKCG! I loved working with multiple clients and really got a feel for agency life. As someone who is looking to pursue a career in PR, this was the perfect opportunity to gain professional experience and learn about the industry. I found the work to be extremely rewarding, but what really made my time at AKCG special was the incredible people I worked with. Since the very first day of my internship, I truly felt like a valued member of the team. Everyone here is more than willing to help you with anything you might need, and they truly want you to succeed. For future interns, make the most of your time, take advantage of countless resources available, and do not be afraid to ask questions and share your ideas.
